Linux Issues

Go to solution Solved by HanZie82,

What are the errors when you type your update command in the CLI?

Be more precise and factual in your question asking.

Else

sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
Should work.

Or try this to see what version is installed:
apt-cache policy realvnc-vnc-server

If that doesnt work either, maybe look here: https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=329220

I am having some troubles again with my Linux server. My RealVNC install is outdated and won't update using some of the other methods I have found trying to install via CLI. Almost everything makes me go to the Ubuntu app store which has NEVER worked for me. No matter how many installs, VMs I have tried, I have tried to reinstall the app store and various other ideas and things I have come across but none of them work.

Out of ideas how to update my VNC and now TeamViewer is also out of date and wont let me connect and I cant update it either. Thoughts or ideas?

What is this linux server doing? Basically all my linux servers can be managed via the web or ssh, so I'd probably consider moving to those methods.

Look into xrdp also.

This server is running various docker containers, file server, plex, and some other small things that support those mainly.

Yea so I had to go to the article because it kept telling me something about the Queue was full. Sorry I would be more specific but I figured out the actual issue which was that RealVNC got rid of their free plan and requires you to have a paid subscription which is what caused the issue to begin with.

Do you need a gui then? This should all be able to be managed via SSH.

Yea I prefer the GUI because of the images and everything I have saved, I don't have a cloud file server as the last time I did that I had some issues and I'm in the process of getting sensitive data off that server which will remove that part entirely from the equation.

If this is the reason, mark this as solution, so people searching can find the explanation quickly. 🙂
And thanks for reporting back and letting us know what it was.
