Hello, guys, I have a question. I have a power supply that has 550 watts and it's from Lux Aerocool. And I got many feedbacks about it, and People said that. The power supply is very cheap, and It doesn't deliver the right. Amount of wattage to the components. So I I experienced a lot of Drops of FPS and low GPU usage

In the other hand I got suggestions that says, upgrade your CPU to 5700x, because my current 5500 is bottlenecking rx 6650xt

I have checked temps and its all fine but i dont know where is the problem the motherboard is updated the latest drivers installed with fresh windos I tried to overclock no much difference,

So im in the middle of the road between upgrading my cpu or gpu because im on tight budget.

Thank you guys

The 5500 isn't the best, sure.., but you should still get a decent gaming experience on this CPU.

If you're experiencing major FPS problems, then I don't think the CPU is responsible. You would improve overall framerate consistency and top-end FPS with a new CPU.

This might help put numbers to my words:

I play rust, squad some multiplayer games that has intensive cpu usage and by the way when i run any game no matter what settings i play on it doesn't increase the fps " god of war " for example sometimes i have good fps all fine until everything gets laggy and the usage drop down

I think I found the reason why your PC might get sudden FPS drops,

the PSU might be fine but also could suck at sustained loads or whatever,

cheap good 550W PSU

Power Supply: MSI MAG A550BN 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($59.99 @ Amazon)

Is it even common to get more fps drops because of a bad psu? Huge drops to 0 I understand when pc shuts down etc. But anyways worth it to swap it as its horrible.

6650xt might have stutters from vram running out so lowering settings could help in some games where the 8GB limit gets too close. I would also check that the gpu is installed in the correct slot instead and that memory is running in dual channel.

if it's a bad PSU that somehow overheats or something during a sustained load like gaming can do sometimes, could potentially do the same as weak VRM does, but I'm not 100% positive as my only knowledge is the tier-list and couple of hundreds of posts

also the tierlist is really only good for looking at actually bad psus, and the actually bad psus have notes beside them and those also have valid sources to the problems, doesnt really matter if its in f tier if it doesnt have a note beside it and customer reviews are positive

12v = 42a or 504w for the lux 550w, should be a half decent ish psu

here are the amazon reviews, 4 and 5 star reviews make up 87% of the reviews whilst 1 and 2 star reviews make up 7% of the reviews, ill ignore 3 star as thats a mixed bag

as for evidence that tier e and tier f are bullshit if they arent noted with valid evidence (the ones without the * or number thingys that indicate notes) ill show you the amazon revews for the thermaltake smart found here where 4 and 5 star make up 91% of the reviews whilst 1 and 2 star make up 5% of the reviews, as for the psu itself the 700w are half decent 648w units though the 600w and 500w are closer to being meh at 504w and 420w respectively but still usable

also i wouldnt bother sidegrading to another shitty 550w bronze, might aswell spend an extra 20$ and get a 750w gf1 with a 10 year warranty so its actually usable, or if you are a cheapskate there are plenty of rm850x or equivalent psus for ~50$ used, even if these arent neccesary now atleast youll still get your moneys worth when you dont have to upgrade it when you upgrade your specs

btw what case and cpu cooler do you have @Mayheem cause thatd probably explain the lag rather than going as far fetched as the psu

for the case I have forge m100a

case should flow air just fine

at this point id just manually force the cpu to a locked speed see if that helps

go into bios set all core multi to 45 set vcore to 1.25v and set llc to a middling llc, this will lock 4.5ghz on all cores, just wanna see if that might help cause this is really just suggesting a board issue or something like that

Thanks for the fast respond! I bought the board just 3 months ago

I just tested GOD OF WAR with original settings it gave me like avg of 110 fps including some fps 0.1% 80 fps and when i lower fps it gave me a stable 165 fps and more..

I guess I have problem with multiplayer games such open world like SQUAD RUST battlefield a bit!

I will try to use these tweaks on my bios, THANKS
