Need headphone recommendations...

I'd like over the ear designs and would also like something with 3.5mm plug

I plan to get a sound card at some point so something that can take full advantage of such hardware for audio quality would be nice.

Also, I don't care about heavy bass or mind numbing loudness, I want something that would give me high fidelity audio in all ranges.

Sound isolation would also be nice.

I plan on using for movies and gaming with some music.

doesn't need to have a mic but if it does I prefer fully removable mics over the folding ones.

I just looked at Sennheiser's site and they had WAY too many options, my brain started to hurt. There is simply too much choice out there and I don't know where to start...

Impedance is the amount of resistance I believe, or how hard it is to drive the headphones. A cheap iPod for example, can't drive anything higher than say 60 ohms. You will need a very hefty amplifier to drive a 600 ohm headphone. I would not recommend going that high unless you are sure you want to spend that much on amplifiers and such.

can't sound cards from Asus or Sound Blaster drive 600 ohm?

Impedance is not the only factor that determine how hard a headphone can be drived. The other factor is the sensitivity (usually the number with 'dB' behind it).

For example, the Hifiman HE-6 is one of the hardest headphone to be driven, although it's only rated at 50 ohm. It's harder to be driven than the DT990 600ohm, I think.
