I have never used it, but I think it is a launcher for games you have in your emulators, which has SteamOS integration.

yeah I know I really want to get it I was just wondering if it will be the same experience as playing the emulators separately?

it's "just" a layer that helps you set up emulators on the steamdeck easier, the moment you're in a game there's nothing emudeck can do to impact how well emulation goes, other than the same config options you have access to as well.

having that said.. setup is probably the biggest hassle of emulation on a platform like the steamdeck, so this has the potential to be great.. or this has the potential to be a grift because they seem to be hiding updates behind a "patreon early access" period of "some weeks to months"...

yeah ok, it's fine the updates break it sometimes anyway so I wouldn't be very eager about them. I mean they had one update like that I think but who knows, I kinda don't want to risk it if stuff runs perfectly out of the box.

the thing about it is that if the updates happen to fix something that impacts you.. you'll be left waiting seemingly until they have something else to shove into early access.

i'd see this in a more positive light, but releases to their github seem to have all but stagnated, with just one in 2023, and none in 2024 so far.
