Try holding down the motherboard on the 24pin side and just pull/wiggle it out. It's by far the worse thing to do...

 

If your 24pin splits into the 20+4pin connector, it might be easier to pull out the 4 pin first, then pull out the 20 pin connector.

Did you remember to press on the tab on the side?

If you have already done that, try feeling which pin(s) is stuck. Then try loosening it with a small flat headed screwdriver

Hold the retaining tab and then pry it off with a small flathead screwdriver.

24pin is a bitch, I have no idea how they haven't fixed it in all these years.

yeah those pins are hard to pull out after a long period of time, when i'm pulling them out it almost feels that my motherboard is going to break in half. Just remember to press down the retention plastic thing ( don't know the name) and keep wiggling and pulling out.

Never ever had a problem with it so that might be why. A finger on each side of the socket and a good pull should most certainly get that thing off, if not try with a screwdriver as TMC said.
