Hi LTT Forums,

first time post here but from what lurking I've done the forums look like a great place!

My first PC build:

CPU:Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU HS+F:Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler

MOBO:ASRock Z87 Extreme4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

RAM:G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400

SSD:Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" SSD

HDD:Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM

ODD:Samsung SH-224DB 24x DVDRW OEM

GPU:Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 4GB WINDFORCE

PSU:Corsair RM 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Case:Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 Anthracite

The Problem I'm having is this: I got a cable with the case that connects to a socket near my CPU on the motherboard (i think it was an extension cable to PSU) and now I've attempted to connect the EPS/ATX cable from PSU to it but the shape of the holes dont match up, ive gone through every cable and swapped ends and i cant seem to find what I've done wrong or if I need to buy another cable.

I'll provide as much info as I can if anyone needs more.

Thanks so much in advance :)

Umm, so is it a cpu power plug?  That plugs above the cpu socket on the motherboard, it looks like the plug that the GPU has.  Or if you mean the 12pin cable (big thick cable that plugs in next to usb3.0) out of all honesty, the holes should line up.  The 12 is pretty much the same across the board, so they should work.

@Gascoigne Might want to follow your thread so you're notified of replies. :)

This may sound...simple, but have you tried rotating the cable?

@Gascoigne  This is a good idea, I have my 12 pin ATX cable twisted around so it fits in the socket.

did you try a pcie cable? i noticed that some of the shapes of the holes on the cables of my psu were just slightly different between a pcie 6+2 pin and a normal 6+2 pin

Well it's either a 4 pin or a 8 pin cable, so the only problem could be the rotation of the cable if it's the correct one or the power supply itself.

It's an 8-pin cable from the back of the PSU, won't reach the CPU socket on motherboard so nanoxia supplied an EPS extension cable.  Some holes are rounded at the edge while other are complete squares and they don't match up, even after rotating.
