I’m having an issue with my mom’s Delll Inspiron  5575 where I upgraded the storage by adding a new SSD and I tried to make that the primary boot device instead of the hard drive that it was originally running off of. it worked and somehow it stopped working and when I tried to boot from the SSD using windows boot manager in the bios, it kept boot cycling, so I took both the SSD and the hard drive out of my computer and put in my PC to try to see what the problem is, but I can’t access the SSD because it shows up in file explorer and management, but I can’t access drive the drive whenever I try, I met with a access denied message. I am lost and very upset. I have tried right, looking on the Drive and changing the permissions under the security tab, but I can’t figure out how to gain access access to the drive.

Does the boot behavior in the Inspiron change when only the SSD is installed, and not the hard drive?

no it only changes with both

right now it wont even boot it just keeps cycling

If you just have the hard drive installed, does the system boot, or did you already format the hard drive?

No, the system doesn’t boot with just the hard drive.

And the hard drive has been untouched? That is, you did not format it in any way - it is theoretically the same as it was before the upgrade to the SSD.

I used a cloning software to clone the contents of the hard drive to the ssd becasue I wanted it to run windows off of the ssd instead of the hard drive becuase its extremely slow, im talking at least 2 minutes to get into windows. the hard drive isnt full of storage either, its a 1Tb and only 150gb of it are used.

Everything. All windows files and personal files.

Just boot cycling, eventually windows tries to repair itself but it doesnt.
