Unable to Enable EXPO on X670E

Junicavi

Hi everyone

I recently made the first high-end build in years, and everything is working, except AMD Expo.

I've an ASUS X670E Gaming Wifi Mobo. My RAM kits are from GSkill (2 kits 2x32 6000), first I tried with a single kit (2x32) In the Dual channel configuration that the manual recommended

A2 1st
B2 1st

This was giving a lot of memory error codes, same with A1 and B1 config, at the end it only worked using A1-A2 or B1-B2. And AMD EXPO always sent me to Safe mode boot, so I couldn't enable it.

After reading a lot, I saw some people saying that this series of motherboards, made odd things using 2 dimms, so I got another kit.

Now I've tried 4x32GB, 2x32GB and EXPO doesn't work.

I'm not an expert on this, so any help would be appreciated.

Here are my specs:

CPU: Ryzen 9 7950x
Mobo: Asus ROG Strix X670E-E Gaming WiFi
RAM: 2x32GB Gskill 6000mhz (F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR) I've 2 of these kits for 128GB total
GPU: Nvidia RTX 4090
Main Boot drive: Corsair 2TB PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD
BIOS VERSION: 1905 x64
Build Date: 02/05/2024

Right now I'm stuck at 3600mhz Speed on my RAM.

Thanks

Work with this guy, he coincidentally has the same issue basically... hopefully you both can get it solved.

For you, can you get 1 kit running with EXPO?  4 DIMMS are going to be hard.

Running a 3070ti with a Ryzen 7 7800x3d. Tbh I think it's just a motherboard issue. I don't like spending the week troubleshooting so I'll try 2x16 this weekend and I'll tell you how things go.

I'm not sure how DDR5 is running at 3600MHz, the lowest speed is 4800MHz right?

Are you sure you're not running 7200MT/sec atm the moment and not 6000MT/sec? The MCLK operates at 'half' the 'speed' listed on RAM kits, since its really a 6000MT/sec kit.

Otherwise, the FCLK likes to operate at 1800-2000MHz iirc, so potentially ensuring its not set to 1:1:1 for FCLK:UCLK:MCLK. Its supposed to be AUTO:1:1.

Nope Windows says 3600Mhz

I would see if you can get one DIMM to run at nominal speed. I'm still going to guess its set to 1:1:1. FCLK runs anywhere from 1733MHz to 2200MHz, so the only reason I can think of why AM5 would want to run at 1800MHz would be if it wasn't set to AUTO:1:1.

I'm assuming you've reset the UEFI already, so you might need to manually force AUTO:1:1 if its not set that way.
