Help in cloning os...

So I recently got a ssd, and installed it in my laptop, the ssd is 512gb and i have a hdd which has my os and all of my files 1tb in size, what I wan't to do is shift my os from my hdd to my ssd, could anyone suggest a way or a method to do so? I hope it doesn't include any paid software

Get Macrium Reflect.  Clone the HDD to the SSD, provided the entire size of the data will fit on the SSD.

 

Is the HDD a 1TB HDD, or are all your files adding up to 1TB?

 

If the SSD is a name brand like Samsung or Crucial, they have their own software for free as well.

 

Note:  You can't just easily move the OS alone, so I am advising to move ALL stuff off the HDD and lose the HDD.

Just makesure the files inside of the 1gb hdd are not upto 500gig if not it would create some issues which is self explanatory.

The HDD has max capacity of 1tb but it has files which add ub to around 700gb, is there any way i can just move my os so that the os will run off the ssd and i will keep my personal files in the hard drive? And the ssd is not from samsung or crucial.

Or is there anyway that i can just reinstall windows and choose the ssd for the installation but not remove my files from the hdd?

I am new to this so I am really confused as of now

Yes,, reinstall Windows and you can select the SSD from the install menu...  When you see this, it will list your drives and partitions.  Pick the 500GB SSD.  

 

Then make sure to go into BIOS and select the SSD as the new boot drive, since both have Windows on them.

And then can I delete the windows files from the hard drive?

 

Do i do this from window's backup and recovery section, as I said I am really new to this could you link a guide or a explanation as to which way I should reinstall windows?

Always install Windows fully, never restore.

Oh and don't worry about needing a license or buying one.  You can run Windows unactivated without issue.  I do on multiple machines.

Absolutely. when you install it will show the available drives and you just select that one. 
You can often even harvest the activation key from the old install.
