8 pin cpu connector to 12 Pin Moba?

hello I am installing a 7900x on an b650 Aorus elite ax,however my psu has an 8 pin cpu connecter and the moba has 8+4,do I buy a new cable or will it work fine?thnx

The extra 4-pin is only needed for extreme overclocking, you don't need to plug it in.

For normal operation the 8-pin connector is perfectly sufficient.

English is not my first language, so please excuse any confusion or misunderstandings on my end.

normaly your 8 pin CPU/EPS connector are splittable to two 4 pins.. on larger/newer PSU's that have 2 CPU cables you get 4+4 and 4+4 .. 

 

but as he said.. anything more than 8 pin are usually not required.
