Issues POSTing, but reset helps – Motherboard on the way out? (MSI B450 Tomahawk Max & R5 3600)

Hello friends,

I've faced the following issue for about a month now: Powering on the fans turn on (spinning at higher speed than normal), as well as the lights on the GPU and RAM turning on. But no POST and screens stay blank.

Pushing the reset button has so far always resolved this and after that the boot-up is normal.

I'm getting a bit worried, is my motherboard about to fail?

In normal operation there are no stability or thermal issues, everything is as usual. I've updated to the newest available BIOS.

I'm thankful for any ideas or tips you might have.

EDIT: I just remembered the first occurrence - when this happened the first time, after pressing reset to get the PC to boot, I got the Windows 11 splash screen trying to convince me to install it (Windows update had downloaded something for it in the background apparently). I declined, cleared the Windows Update cache and disabled the TPM in BIOS to prevent the same happening again.

I don't know if that's connected to the POST issue or not.
