Weird CPU temperature fluctuations?

I recently upgraded my PC and got myself an Intel Core i7-14700K.

 

I have the Corsair 7000D Airflow case, Cougar Forza 85, 3x120mm CoolerMaster SickleFlow top exhaust fans, 3x Corsair AirGuide front intake fans (They're included with the case), and 1 Corsair AirGuide back exhaust fan.

 

I notice that my GPU's (RTX 3080 Ti) temperature stays around 67-77 degrees Celsius under 100% load when I play "demanding" games like Ghostwire: Tokyo at ultra settings with ray tracing and no upscaling.

 

BUT

 

My CPU's temperature CONSTANTLY fluctuates between 60-81 degrees Celsius EVERY SECOND when only 12-18% is utilised.

 

I use MSI Afterburner's OSD to track my HW temps.

 

What is causing this? Is it normal? Should I be worried?

yes, but not for that reason,  

if 18% is 81c  then 100% is.. over 100c ;(

how many fans are on it? if one I'd consider adding one more fan onto it to help it cool the furnace of a CPU, since the cooler should come with 1 fan and 2 fan clips to add another fan at the other side

It hasn't hit 100 degrees Celsius since I got it, which is why I feel there maybe something wrong or something is misreporting/misreading the sensors.

There's only one fan. I ordered another, and it's on its way.

Also, to clarify, when I play a more CPU-intensive game, the CPU still "maxs" out at 88-90 degrees Celsius.

my guess: ur CPU cooler is too weak

hopefully it helps, since you have Airflow case it shouldn't be a case of cooler suffocating inside case most likely

It will help to some degree, a stonger pair of fans should also work better again

Do you have info for the CPU the OP has?

No, that was the only graph i could find comparing the Forza85 with 1 and 2 fans and it happening to be LGA1700 at least so a similar CPU shape

Gosh darn, that's it!

 

After installing the second fan, temps are averaging around 59-77 degrees Celsius! I also tweaked my fan curves to be a little more aggressive.

I think the fan curves helped too, it's interesting how airflow works, the pull fan added exhausts the hot air from inside of the heatsink, allowing more air that the intake fans push in to enter, etc. etc.
