What's all this stuff in my keyboard

For a bit of time I thought it was breadcrumbs but idk for sure. Why does it smell like burning plastic?

Probably a couple of years of Snickers/Twix crumbs. The burning plastic smell is probably some bits of plastic wear from the mechanical action of the keys over time.

crap.

^ Exactly, lol.

This is pretty bad considering its flat back design. I feel like you could get most of that out by just tilting the keyboard and giving it a few taps.

Are you sure it's the keyboard? Mine smells like normal plastic.

It might be it though, since even the high quality plastic wears down, just not as fast as cheap plastic, so most of the plastic actually holds onto the keyboard

That stuff is normal, it helps the keyboard function! Each one of those little particles is a storage device, they work together to store your preferences and settings for the keyboard

Yes, and with a bit of luck it will also release the magic smoke that makes the angry pixies inside your machine...well, angry. Without that, they will be quiet and your machine will run whisper quiet from then on.

Plus it smells nice.
