Budget (including currency): ~300USD

Country: Pakistan

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Esports, sometimes streaming and editing videos on adobe premiere

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

so right now I've got a 1660 super (dont want to upgrade it anytime soon) and I want to basically future proof in the processor side and right now im considering ryzen 5 7500F. Asked around the market and the complete package with motherboard and 16gb ram is fitting in the total budget. Now I was planning to go with intel's 12th or 13th but saw a latency video on Tech Yes City which kind of made me anxious and not go with intel.

appreciate your suggestions and feedback thanks

The CPU would be fine, since the 7500F is pretty good, but 16GB isn't going to last long if future proofing is your priority.

by future proofing I mean I won't be forced to upgrade in atleast 5 years
How come 16gb ddr5 isn't enough lol

For e-sports on a 1660 Super, I think its plenty.  I'm more sceptical that a 1660 Super is going to last another 5 years, but for e-sports with the quality cranked to low, then maybe.

I think Intel would have been a better bet though, as you could have used QuickSync for streaming and video editing.

16gb is entry level for a lot of gaming now, you'll probably need to upgrade soon.

Remember also - only 6Gb VRAM, so you will be using your RAM a lot more heavily than somebody with even a RTX3060Ti 12Gb.

Plus....don't buy 16Gb DDR5 kits.... VERY poor vfm - the only ones I've seen don't save you enough as they're usually VERY low spec. The decent RAM normally starts at 2x16Gb.

32Gb also the entry-point where video editing becomes viable.

Try to get 32Gb DDR5 6000MT/sec CL30 to get the most out of the Ryzen 7000 CPUs (you'll need even higher MT/sec + lower CL to get the most out of the Intels!).... especially for esports gaming.

You can get a very robust AM5 B650 build (with the Ryzen5 7500F and 32Gb DDR5) for around $350-$400.

7500F is normally ~$150... so if you're only spending $150 on the motherboard AND RAM you will probably need to go to A620M chipset ($75) and VERY low spec DDR5 ($75 for 4800 CL40 for a 32Gb kit / $50 for the 32Gb equally poor spec).... so both of those are components you will probably want to upgrade soon.

Upgrading RAM will be painful later: A620 motherboard normally only have 2 slots and even if you have 4 slots, you will be restricted to the speed of the old kit.

It's possible for just under $350...

Ryzen 5 7500F @ $150

ASRock B650M-H/M.2+ @ $100

Mushkin 2x16Gb 6000MT/sec CL30 @ $98.... but I'd really advise trying to stretch another $9 to the GSkill FlareX5 32Gb kit (also 6000MT/sec CL30) @ $107.

For e-sports, there is no way someone is going to let the VRAM spill over to system RAM as it would be unplayable.

Fair point for eSports... but for Adobe Premiere, it's going to be mostly CPU + system RAM.... or hard disk.

Very insightful comments, thanks alot everyone.

what if I get a ryzen 5 5600 processor, a normal b550 mobo with 32gb ram? Maybe I can upgrade the processor later on to a, lets say 5800x3d or 5900? will that be good enough?
