Internal hard drives made external?

IR76
Go to solution Solved by OddOod,

So i have a bunch of hard drives from old laptops and pcs with various photos and documents wanted from family members and i was wondering is there a way i can plug it into my pc via the usb port on the outside rather than having to open my pc and plug in the data and power cable each time?

I have an external hard drive that does that but with a different cable so is there an adapter i can get on amazon that actually works? Or am i dreaming here?

Assuming it is a sata drive you can use one of the external toaster style docks, a sata to usb cable, or a enclosure, although some drives may require more power.

Brilliant thank you. Ill look up some as I'm in the UK so I'm not sure if I can get that one specifically  but if they are just called 2.5 and 3.5 inch hard drive docks then that's brilliant thank you.

What kind of hard drives are they?

Don't know the technical term but the hard drives you put in a pc or laptop and the big desktop ones have a sata connection with a data cable and power cable needed.
