Dashlane password manager set to increase prices by 700%

Users report a sudden 700% price increase with no prior communication from Dashlane

In a move that has caught many off guard, users of the prominent password manager are being hit with exorbitant price increases, some as high as 700% in select regions. A user has reported his annual fee jumping from $9 to $64, while another has seen a tenfold rise. In Brazil, the impact is particularly stark, with the subscription cost leaping from 100 BRL to 445 BRL—a figure that represents a third of the country’s monthly minimum wage.

While Google and Apple have been proactive in alerting users about the impending changes to their annual subscription fees, numerous customers have lamented the absence of direct communication from Dashlane. The company has defended itself on Reddit, claiming that it sends out notifications 37 days before the increase, compared to the 60-day notice provided by Google and Apple.

Further compounding the frustration, users have also reported a lack of clear communication regarding the discontinuation of Dashlane’s Authenticator App. Dashlane has clarified that only “a few corporate clients” were informed of this change.

Is this a last ditch effort to raise money by a threatened company? Has the emergence of passkeys somehow turned Dashlane's future into a bleak one?

Just cancel and migrate to a different password manager. There's plenty of options to choose from and most will allow you to import passwords stored in another manager.

Yep. That's what I've done. Hopefully this reaches more people before they're charged
