PNY RTX 4080 Graphics Crashing with Multiple Monitors

Has anyone else had an issue with black screens and the fans going full speed with an RTX 4080 with multiple monitors?

I've had this on again off again issue with my pc build for a while.

Randomly without warning or pattern the displays will cut out and all fans will ramp up to full speed. This will happen even just sitting on the desktop. I can still hear audio if a video is playing or a game. So the entire computer itself isn't crashing.

When I reset the computer after a crash like this it will only display my desktop on one of my side monitors. When I go into display settings it shows that it is detecting all three of my monitors.

Usually I just end up disconnecting my side monitors and just use my main display for a few days. I never have instability or crashing issues even in an intensive game with just my main monitor.

UPDATE: It just crashed with only my main monitor and reset itself.

I've tried a BIOS update. CMOS clear. Updating the graphics drivers. Re-Seating GPU. Re-seating RAM and trying other slots for the RAM.

Nothing seems to have a lasting effect.

Here are my PC specs:

Could you try to disable the onboard graphics on the 7900X?
I had to disable the iGPU on my 7700x as it conflicted with my own 4080 in multiple programs.

Just disabled it. I'll give it a try and see if it gives me any results.

Sorry for the late reply. Busy Busy!
Did you try anything new? Is the issue still happening?

Can you try to use DDU to completely remove and reinstall the drivers?

  • 3 weeks later...

Sorry for the late reply as well i was busy last few weeks. I tried a DDU and swapping some cards but was still having the issue. I ended up just doing a fresh installation of windows 11 and that fixed it. I haven't had any of the aforementioned issues since.
