PC Build Reccomandations/Tips

Go to solution Solved by Why_Me,

You want a ATX 3.0 psu for these RTX 40XX cards. Here's a 2TB SSD w/DRAM cache, case with better airflow, and recently released Gigabyte G-Sync compatible monitor.

A better look at that monitor, SSD, psu and case.

Budget (including currency): ~2400, anything over really pushing the budget

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming mostly, Helldivers 2, god of war, etc

Other details

Hey so as the title suggests, I'm looking into building my first ever gaming pc. I'm looking to play games like helldivers 2 and god of war without any problems at 1440p. I'm new to this although I have delved into the realm of pcs a couple of years ago on and off. I have never built one though but I have watched many tutorials on how they work and some of the problems that you can run into. I would like to stay around that $2300 - $2400 price tag, any higher than that is really really pushing the budget.

Here's what I came up with as wells as some help from reddit:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BXrR9c

TOTAL COST: $2299.46

Some things I would like some help with:

  • I know almost nothing about ssds and ram (any help there would be appreciated)

  • Any items that you would change, swap out, add, remove, etc. (please give a bit of reasoning)

  • general compatibility with all parts

The two things that will not change are the cpu and gpu (I've heard that helldivers 2 has had some issues on all amd setups so I'm staying away from their gpus and the 4080 super hopefully gives me decent future-proofing)

Use pcpartpicker.com and post the build link or a BB formatted list.

The CPU cooler comes with a tube of thermal compound.

Consider an ATX 3.0 compliant PSU with native support for the 12VHPWR connector used by the GPU.

Consider a 2TB NVMe drive.

Consider a case like the Lancool 216 which has 2x160mm and 1x140mm fans. While a little more expensive than the 4000D Airflow the Arctic 5 fan pack would not be needed.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Ok that is good to know, I don't really know what thermal compound is best, would you say that the added compound is as good as what I selected? I don't mind the extra $7

I believe the Kyronaugt is generally < 1C better.
