Hello everyone,

I recently attempted to upgrade the RAM in Lenovo IdeaPad 3-15IIL05 laptop, but I'm encountering some difficulties. The laptop originally had 4GB of RAM soldered onto the motherboard, and I purchased an 8GB DDR4-2666MHz RAM module to add to it.

However, after installing the new RAM module, the laptop refuses to turn on.

I've tried to reseat the module, I've tried to install other RAM modules including known working ones from another laptop, I've tried to clear the CMOS and reset the BIOS settings, I've checked for any physical damage to the RAM slot, I've tried modules with different RAM speeds.

Despite these efforts, the laptop still won't boot with any RAM module installed.

I'm unsure what else to try at this point. Could there be compatibility issues with the RAM modules, or is there a deeper hardware problem with the laptop? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help.

The memory frequency (DDR4-2666) appears to be fine.

However, there is a possibly that the memory timings are mismatched vs the soldered 4GB.

Especially for laptops with soldered memory, you would want to match the frequency, timings / latency, and voltage.

You may need to take the 8GB stick back out first.

Depending on how locked down the BIOS is, it may show the memory timings.

Otherwise, you can use something like CPU-Z -> Memory or SPD tab.
