Youtube app on iOS can’t go 5 seconds without crashing as of this morning

Is there any way to fix this aside from reinstalling the app? Doing so would nuke all my saved downloads. I’ve tried restarting my phone and this just keeps happening.

copy your downloads to a pc or mac then reinstall?  

(note neither my android browser, called samsung browser nor chrome on my pc does this, downloads are in seperate folders and dont have anything to do with the installation, so are you even sure that's what would happen?  if yes, copy the files somewhere else, as said)

 

ps: never really used a youtube app, that wouldn't make sense to me, browser only, not a fan of too many 3rd party apps on my devices. 

 

ps2: bilibili app also saves downloads separately and you keep them if you delete bilibili (yes i have that app installed, because its just really good, bilibili is way better than youtube could dream of, feature wise)
