Friend having issues with PC black screening

My friend has been having an issue where his PC will go black screen he can still hear us talking in Discord then the voices just fade out after a bit and he is forced to shut down his PC and turn it on again. It started happening in Valorant pretty much all we are playing atm so not sure about other games 

The Specs:

3060Ti

32GB DDR4 3200Mhz Corsair ram
Ryzen 7 5800x
Corsair 850w PSU
All drivers are up to date and no overclock

Best case scenario: Broken display cable

Worst case scenario: Dying GPU

 

Both cases shows similar symptoms (black display but everything else is functional).

He can still hear us for a short time when the screen goes black then our voices fade out and he has to restart. Could the broken display cable or gpu still lead to that happening?

Sounds like PC is shutting down, might be PSU issue.
