My colleague borrowed my 2nd gen Ryzen cpu to update his bios, but he flashed the newest bios right away and now its not booting

damian61

Motherboard : gigabyte b450m S2h

He can't remember properly, but the bios version was from 2019 on his board, he skipped all versions and flashed the newest one from GB website. He was able to boot with my ryzen 2600, but he can't boot / get a post with his new ryzen 5 5600.

is there any way to fix this bios issue? He tried to flash back some older revision, but he got an error message, that file can' read.

Now hes board only able to boot with my CPU.

You can't update this BIOS straight up from an old 2019 version to the latest one, read the support page

But he did, and now its not booting at all, only with the 2nd gen ryzen cpu. he tried to reverse the bios back to F40, even older version, but can't do it

Yes, mobo is booting off only from my cpu, we tried his 5600 and 2400G but neither worked. Only my 2600

yes, but what this Motherboard model wants him to do, is very complicated procedure because for some reason it's necessary, so probably cheap solution,

he needs to go from F3 to the next required bios, probably F32, but check, from F32 to F40, and unless there's another note from F40 he should be able to go to the newest bios,

but he must go F3 install up to F32 then install F40 then install latest if no notes saying otherwise,

it's just how some very cheap motherboards go..
