Is this a good NAS for the price, and beginner?

I’ve been looking at a NAS to offload files to instead of random drives. From what I can find this seems to be a pretty good deal, and would be easy to setup. I was looking for more opinions on this nas or other ones for a simpler price. I also was wondering if I setup a raspberry pi with a vpn, will this nas allow me to access it while connected to the pi from an outside network? Thanks!
