Current build:

- InterTech IPC 1.5U-1528-1

- ASRock H510M-ITX/ac

- Silverstone FX600 Platinum [600W PSU]

- Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB

- Samsung HDD ST1000LM014 1TB

- Samsung HDD ST2000LX001 2TB

- HyperX Fury 32GB DDR4 2666MHz (Planned: Kingston Fury Beast Black 64GB (2x32GB) 3200MHz DDR4)

- Intel® Core™ i9-11900T Processor 16M Cache, 4.90 GHz (Old: Intel® Core™ i5-11400T Processor 12M Cache, 3.70 GHz)

- MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Aero ITX 12GB OC (Still doubts between RTX 4060 Ti or RTX 4070 | Probably TI would be perfect for the i9 without CPU bottleneck)

Peripherals

- Logitech Keyboard K810

- ASUS ROG Gladius III

- Sony PS5™ DualSense™ controllers

Planned changes:

- Intel® Core™ i9-11900T Processor [16M C / 4.90 GHz] > Intel® Core™ i5-11400T Processor [12M C / 3,70GHz]

- GeForce RTX™ 4060 Ti 12GB / GeForce RTX™ 4070 16GB > MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Aero ITX 12GB OC

Kingston Fury Beast Black 64GB (2x32GB) 3200MHz DDR4

- Air cooling replacement for complete water cooling with internal or external radiator is planned for later

Alternatively i would rather  replace the MSI videocard for the iGame GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Mini OC 16GB-V but i have no clue where it's sold or of it's even released.. The reason that i choose the T variant from intel is mainly the difficulty to manage the heat which would be a problem with the standard type let alone the K, X & XE unlocked versions in a 1,5U short depth servercase

[update: due to some miner ajustments with the airflow, the average temps of the GPU are about 8°C lower]

Performance Benchmarks

- 3DMark TimeSpy [2160p] - 8250 points [VIdeocard = 67°C]

- MAXON Cinebench R15 - 1040 point [Processor = 50°C]

- MSI Kombustor [2160p] - 27fps [Videocard = 66°C]

Performance in Game [Default settings - 4k@60Hz with G-Sync and Dolby Atmos enabled]

- Watch Dogs: Legion - [High settings without ray-tracing - 60 fps average [GPU = 66°C]

- Cyberpunk 2077 - [Custom High setting without ray-tracing - 60 fps average [GPU= 64°C]

- Ghost Recon® The Division 2 - [High settings 70 fps average [GPU = 66°C]

- Need for Speed™ Unbound - [High - 70 fps average [GPU= 62°C]

- Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered -

- Ghost Recon® Breakpoint

Heat:

Intel® Core™ i9-11900T Processor 16M Cache, 4.90 GHz 55°C max (No difference in temp.. only better results) Intel® Core™ i5-11400T - 55°C max

- MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Aero ITX 12GB OC - 72°C max [Undervolt GPU 1850Mhz > 2050Mhz / Mem 7500Mhz > 8000Mhz]

Noise:

- Have to measure it jet but it's a very quiet setup considering the size and type of cooling that is used

A sidenote [with the glass serverdoor open, the temps are about 5°C lower than stated as above with closed door results]

Any advise about the planned build.. Possible bottlenecks / overkill etc.. are welcome

[edit 04-04-2024 - Finally done with the DIY grill for the Noctua fans.. (Bit less of a hazard.. specially for me cause I allways wanna touch the fans)

Get the i7 it literally performs the same. Like 1% difference in games basically.

Barely an upgrade I'd just keep the 3060 you have now. It's only 10% faster so not something you'll notice usually.

You can literally just lock the standard ones into what the T series does. Usually even get them to consume EVEN LESS power and thus less heat.

Whats the reason for the upgrade? A 11400t and 3060 are perfectly balanced options.

At 4k you are BY FAR held back by the gpu that i5 is chilling.

That's unfortunate because i've just bought the i9..

True but with the small space and heat transfer the only option with a 4070 or higher is to watercool the whole thing.. but that would mean to many ajustments so that's planned for later.

Well the reason is that i wanted the "best" compontents to fit in this small case performing best as possible without throttling or unacceptable temps

Did you buy it new? If so you can just return it and get a normal one. Also on the T series thing you can just set a power limit. The t series is literally just that a power limit. Doesn't do much more than that.

Id also be surprised if the 11900t even games better as it's basically in the same power budget as the i5.

I wouldn't spend 450$ on a gpu "upgrade" when you aren't even guaranteed a 10% performance uplift in every game.

I'd really just keep it as is or look for alternative options.

You can diy a mini 4070. They are really efficient and work fine with a small cooler.

Or get a itx msi 6700xt which will fit and should do fine. That is a decent upgrade at least.

Damn that's helpfull man! You bring me on new ideas! Think i will follow up your advise on that GPU.

Keep in mind the 4070 is also NOT a 4k gaming card. That like 4080 super / 7900xtx starting point once you want to go past 60fps.

Well.. going higher than a 4070 is (for now) beyond my price range so i will have to settle with less 🙂

You can also just wait. A 3060 is a nice lil card

If you change your noctua's for some delta jetengines a 4080/7900xtx would totally work in it 😛

That's a consideration to keep in mind but then i have to comprimise the sound of an aircraft flying arcross the room...

There isna limit of what you can cram in what is essentially a router sized case 😛

If they would have access to fresh air from the bottom and expel it to the top then well any card that physically fits will do. Basically modern itx styled way.

For the cpu you could do a mini custom loop. Basically alpha cool cheap r

res pump combo + rad + their 1u block.

Puts you back about 150$ and just hang the aio out the back somewhere

Funny you mentioned that.. Got all the supplies from Alphacool in the closet but could not find the proper coolingblock for the MSI Aero GPU. There are some for other brands which i tryed to DYI the shit out of but with too much of excitement i flooded the whole damn case.

Ah yeah blocks are only for top end cards basically.

But if you can I'd actually go a slightly different route. Cut a hole in the bottom where the gpu fans are and above the gpu so there is air in and out. Then seprate the gpu in its own airflow zone with with some plastic. No need for an rxpensive block

That's interesting.. i've got an older GTX1660 from ASUS that reach boilingpoint. Would be a nice GPU to test this out

May wanna just thermal paste replace that.

Btw I mean no gpu mods here literally just pretty much making your server case "open air".

Well that specific type of GPU was poorly build.. Repaste would not help in that case.

Oh i see.. that's gonna be no option for me cause my serverrack is full with no space left.

As stubborn as I AR.. replaced the i5 for the i9 Mr.T version.. runs smooth as hell but.... That anoying itch still wanna replace the RTX 3060 for the RTX 4060 TI or 4070... Not sure thog..

ti is a shitty upgrade really just a waste of money. A 4070 will actually be decent and last a while. By now its the 4070 super as it replaces the 4070 price wise.
