Specs in sig

Earlier today I stress tested my CPU with Prime95 as I had just swapped my fan orientations and curves to work better. After doing this I had the same temps (60 degrees in prime 95) and that’s perfect for me. But, strangely, after about 3 minutes the CPU shot up to 80 degrees celscius and dropped clock speeds, and so then my fans ramped up. I opened it up to add another fan and thought ‘I might as well check the thermal paste’ not even being three weeks old. Bear in mind I added some NT-H1 to it after using the thermal paste that comes on the wraith stealth. And then I see this, any ideas on what’s going on? I’ve never seen it before in my system, my old one or on here

Did you add NT-H1 ontop of the preapplied paste?  Maybe they had a reaction?

The spread looks good but it just seems like not enough in patches. Very odd.

It was on the side where there wasn’t much paste before
it might’ve spread to over there after putting the wraith stealth back on

it is but it’s just quite sparse in terms of spacing and thickness

I mean if it works it works, unless it has some overheat problems it should be fine,

does CPU have a hotspot temp?

Looks a bit thin.. not a fan of NT-H1 myself, for the reason showing in the second pic.

Pretty sure it was around 95 but pc’s dismantled now since I’m cleaning off the thermal paste and configuring the fan orientation

Just to update everyone, I tried with only NT-H1 and the application looks good, I’m pretty sure @Hinjima was correct about the reaction with the two pastes.

just did another prime95 and damn the spike happened again, though I think it might just be the wraith stealth heatsink getting overloaded and heating the cpu up since there’s nowhere for the heat to go (8 it’s a cpu facing cpu heat sink)

That sure does look a lot better!  That's how it always looks with my own NT-H1 🙂  Probably a chemical reactions between two compounds, strange but could happen.

Strange, I haven't had issues with it or TF-7.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

Not many people have. I am so lucky 🙂

Edit:

I did not say anything about TF7.. other than its good TIM. Though I have been saying that for years now.
