Recently my 590 GTX died and I upgraded to a 780 GTX. I used to use the mini DP from my 590 to my monitor but had to buy a new cable since the 780 only has a full DP connector.

While I waited for the DP cable to be delivered I used a dvi dual link cable. The very first time I booted with my new DP cable nothing came up on my screen and the readout code on my motherboard was for "legacy boot error". I Didn't feel like fixing it at the time so I left it. A while later I gave it a shot again, this time with windows running. With my sound on I could hear that windows picked up that I plugged my DP cable in (got that ping sound) but again nothing on my screen.

Does anyone have any idea whats wrong?

Full specs:

OS: win 8.1

Mobo: Asus Maximus IV extreme

Ram: corsair vengeance 8gb 1866MHz

CPU: Intel i7 2600k OC 4.2GHz

GPU: Asus 780 GTX Direct CU II OC (335.23 Driver)

PSU: Corsair HX1000W

Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster SA950 (120hz gaming is amazing :D)

Yep works fine. It's the one I'm currently stuck with :/

In that case, you wanna try a different DP cable.

If that doesn't work, then it's either the DP port on your card or the monitor.
