Cs2 fps drops

Nivali

Hi all!

I recently upgraded my old 1070ti with a 7800xt tuf gaming. I cant say I feel or see a lot of difference when playing cs2, honestly.

My avarage fps with my old 1070ti was 200-220 fps, while my 7800xt serve me avarage 270-320 fps.

I remember when i used my 1070ti, there was some stuttering here and there (mostly fps drops to around 110).

With my new 7800xt I see my fps drop to 160-180fps when using 1280x1024.

However, with a resolution of 1920x1080 my fps drops a lot more, to about 40-60 sometimes. I really like to play the game at 1920x1080.

Wasnt it the case, how higher you go in resolution, the more its depends on your graphicscard?

I was monitoring my fps/cpu/gpu usage.

My gpu uses around 80% of its usage, while my cpu stays at 40-55%. Is there a bottleneck happening here?

What I did before installing the new card;

-wipe all nvidia drivers with ddu in safe mode.

-tried an older version of AMD drivers.

All led to nothing.

My specs;

5600X AMD cpu

7800XT graph. card

16gb G.skill 3600mhz

700w coolermaster psu

X570e gaming motherboard

I hope to get some advice before upgrading anything. Thought of upgrading my 5600x to a 5800x3d, but I want people to verify this is the cause of my problem.

If there is any info missing, feel free to ask.

Nivali.

It's a combination of your resolution and CPU here. The minimum resolution you should be playing at with a 7800XT is 1080p. The lower the resolution the more your going to stress your CPU. Bump up to 1080p and see what happens with the FPS. CS2 is more CPU intensive than GPU, so a CPU upgrade will be much more beneficial, especially if you want to play at resolutions lower than 1080p(which again, I don't recommend).

Thats the problem. When I play 1080, my avrage fps is 220-270. fps drops are around 40-60 in random places on maps.

I'd say this is CPU related then, check your CPU and GPU temps and usage while playing and report back.

Its been 2.5 years since I put this system together, maybe the thermal paste is dry. Ill run the game tomorrow, but I am sure my temps are fine.

To report back on you..

I played 2 hours cs2 with the following results;

CPU 50c

GPU 50c

--

CPU 45-60% usage

GPU 80-94% usage

This on 1080p.

Avarage fps 250-310

With drops to avarage 177

1% low to 9 fps

Do these 1% lows happen because of my CPU?
