I have a 34,4 sec bios time. I just got this problem not to long ago. Before I don't really know my bios time but I know it wasn't this long.

I have a 2 month old pc, a AMD 7 7800 X3D, and for a such new pc I really dont think it is normal.

I have tried increasing the ammount of cores used to 4 and set almost everything in my taskmanager autostart to off. Every time i start my pc it is exactly 34.4 sec.

I feel like I have tried everything, I don't know what to do.

Does anyone know what might be the cause?

Please help, it is pretty anoying having half a minuit start time!!! ;D

It kinda is. Newer PCs have more complicated memory training algorithms and therefore take much longer to do memory training, hence the long BIOS time. Honestly, 34 seconds for an AM5 machine isn't actually that bad compared to some of the times I've seen (over 2 minutes in some scenarios).

If you want to try to decrease it, go into the BIOS and make sure memory context restore is enabled, though be warned that this can sometimes cause weird issues for reboots depending on the BIOS revision, and IIRC there are some BIOS revisions where the setting is just broken and won't enable at all.

Neither of these do anything for the BIOS time.

BIOS time is everything before Windows starts loading so this won't affect it at all.

Check BIOS settings for fast boot. Did you add/change hardware or update BIOS?

And yes on desktops it's nothing special. My 13900K system is at 37.1.

Few things at play here. Depending on how current your BIOS is, you might be experiencing memory training on every boot. You can try to watch for the DRAM diagnostic light when starting the PC and see how long it stays lit. Sadly, most boards don't have a POST code readout which makes this trivial. Second, assuming you're on a current BIOS, Memory Context Restore is an option you'll want to have on to hopefully prevent training on every boot.

Whatever you touched regarding cores, I'd suggest reverting that all back to stock.

A slightly longer boot time is unfortunately normal for Zen4 currently. When I built my system back in late 2022 at launch, power button to login screen was over 50 seconds. Today, its 30-32 seconds. (X670E Taichi). I don't use the OS's "BIOS time" metric, I just go by button press to login screen.

What motherboard do you have?

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

I have a ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus WIFI

Aslo, I reverted the cores

The only desktop boards I've had with short BIOS times in the past half decade have been Asrock ones interestingly.
