So I can't choose between i3 3225 and FX-6300 with GTX 650 Ti Boost. If I would play only new titles I would definitely FX-6300 but I'm also playing GMod which is single threaded game... Now I own Athlon II X2 245e and GT240 and I get 10-30FPS in GMod on RP server and I want to get at least 30-40+ FPS. Which should I choose because FX-6300 delivers better multi-threaded performance but not so good single-threaded performance... Maybe I will even take FX-8320 if I add extra 20$...

Note: Not buying right now but after a month or so...

i3-160$

FX-6300-172$

FX-8320-194$

Hmm... Can an OC'ed FX-6300 or FX-8320 have the same single core performance like i3?

I would go with either of the FX ships over the i3, they'll perform admirably.

You can turn off the rest of the cores if you don't need them in that game, so get the best that fits your budget.

Codename: HighFlyer, specs:  CPU: i5 2500k cooled by a H70ish(2 rad)   Mobo: MSI MPower Z77   GPUs: Gigabyte GTX 660 OC 1150 MHZ core, 3150 memory both   RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16G @1600mhz   SSD: ADATA Premier Pro sx900 / HDD Seagate Barracuda 1TB/Samsung 1TB   Power supply: Corsair RM650 80+ Gold   Case Corsair Carbide 500R   5.4 ghz achieved on the good old 2500k, may it rest in peace. Current daily OC is 4.8 @1.41 v

So now I'm leaning more to FX-6300(or 8320). I'm running SoftXpand and I'll probably run 2 GMod at the same time... Recording gameplay(people breaking rules) and edit them and upload to youtube...(Maybe while playing). So I should get 30-40+ FPS with FX-6300...

Well, probably you should get... And go with the GTX 650 Ti, is a great card... with the new drivers it should be pretty close to the HD 7850...

Try not buying cpu's that you can't overclock today, they are not worth it, and yes the best case scenario with an i3 is that it might have a good single thread performance, but today that is not an issue, and not to mention that the FX6300 can be overclocked easy so you can get to that single threaded performance you would like

Just 1 more thing maybe try waiting a bit because the FX6300 will have a price drop, and AMD will release the FX6350 very soon ( or maybe they did already ) so that might be a way to save cash and you can buy the gpu you want

Just bare in mind, once you start recording or streaming or having things run in the background while you play GMOD the FX CPUs will really start to pull away from the i3 because when you're multitasking, all them cores start to get put to use a lot better.

Thank you all for your help! I'll take FX-6300(if it will be much cheaper) or FX-8320(if the difference will be still 20$). I will get used GA-990XA-UD3 for half of it's price from a person I know and it's not damaged or anything else...

Corect me if I am wrong but aren't the "Ti" version of nvidia cards just overclocked non Ti cards?, if so I would go with the 7850 and overclock it. (i have 2 7870s I had some problems with them but turns out it was the sound driver making a conflict with the HDMI sound driver of the video card, updated my sound driver and the problem was gone).

I would stick with the 6 cores, I have an FX8350, and the last 2 cores RARELY get any use, of course I can so a lot of heavy processing stuff at the same time without drop in performance, BUT scenarios like that are so far in between that I can of question the added cash I spent on it, don't be mistaken I efing love my processor but I could have saved some cash xD, or maybe buy some other thing for my pc.

Main rig. Updated :D CPU: FX8350 @stock Cooler: Corsair h110 Motherboard: Ga-990fxa-ud5 Memory: Corsair Vengance 8Gigs 1866Mhz GPU: MSI GTX 970 SLI (blower cooler)  PSU: Cooler Master Silent pro 850w SSD: Corsair Force GT 60Gb HDD: WD 500 Caviar blue Case: Thermaltake core V71 Fan controler: NZXT Sentry
