I have a prebuilt pc from about 12 years ago that has recently stopped working.  I'm not sure what is wrong with it though.  It turns on, but the monitor says no signal.  The hard drive works so i'm not sure if it's the CPU or the motherboard.  Does anyone know a good way to know which one it is? (it's an amd sempron 64 with 2 gb of ddr3 ram with an unknown motherboard)

12 years wow thats old. first clean the dam thing then if that dosent work test the powersuply it my have gone bad. it is posible that after 12 years of use that the power suply has just had enough. i dbout that the cpu or ram have gone bad. older cpu's have a larger die size and run at slower clock speeds and rarly have overheating problems. the ram you can test by using only one stick and in each slot but the ram probably isnt the problem. this is how to test your psu http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/power-supply-test-multimeter.htm

I will do the best I can to help in any way. However I am not all knowing and realize that I can be wrong. If you know something I said is not factual please speak up and provide myself and otters reading reading the thread with the facts proving it.
