Hey there, I bought a Used GPU, and I just looked at it and saw one of the pins on the PCIe connector looking like something is missing. I bought it new, and it just arrived from eBay. Will it be fine? Is it supposed to look like that? There were no pictures of the connector specifically on eBay, and I'm kinda scared ^^"

That's normal.

Normal.

Look at other GPU pics to compare.

yes, as you can clearly see, the gap is very clean and doesn't look like something that's snapped off, there's no connections running to that gap either, it's just a gap because it's supposed to fit the slot somehow and if there wasn't gap it wouldn't be able to

that pin is for hotplug detection. it is shorter than the rest because it is designed to be physically the last pin to make connection.
it isnt exactly used in desktop environments, but if the motherboard supports it, you can slam home that pci-e card in a running system and it will just show up in the os thanks to that pin.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I do have one more question, this GPU has the power connectors basically mirrored from what they were on my previous one, which is causing the second 8-pin connector cable that stands off from the first one to stand out more than it used too, is that normal too? Currently it would be too far out to close the case without pushing the cables against the glass

What?  If the cables connect and it powers on, it's good.  You're asking if a design decision is normal?

Stop looking for issues.  Does the card work?

I remember my grandfather explaining that concept, in regards to missile systems and radars.

Make sure the cables are firmly seated, that's about the only major thing there. Read the manual for the power supply and the GPU.

Looks fine to me.

My 8pins cable are bent / pushed around 70-80 degrees.

Here's mine :

8pins is not like 12VHPWR and it's prohibition against too much bending.

Hey I thanks for the help everyone. I don't mean to be too annoying, but I do have one last thing. At the top of the screen, every couple of minutes while playing a game I have it that a black bar like flashes for a frame or two at the top of the screen. I attached some videos of it, it occurs every couple of minutes. Did a full reinstall of the Nvidia drivers, rebooted the PC a couple of times, it keeps happening. Like once or twice every 10 minutes. I did put in my old GPU since then, and it no longer occurs now. What else could I try? I googled about it and found some people saying their new 30/4090s did this, but I don't know if its the same issue.

Video 1

Video 2

It's stronger IRL, and also in the original video file, compression makes it a bit harder to see. It appears at the very top of the screen. I attached a frame from the second video, in which it's very visible. The first one I accidentally recorded at 30 fps so it's not too noticeable

No idea what might be the cause of that but I can say that it never occured to me with a 3080.

Both in games and non-games.

To clear out some questions that people might ask of you before going deep troubleshooting mode :

Have you tried other (better) cable ?

Does it only occurs when gaming ?

What game is that? does the problem only occurs in that game or all games ?

I did try some of these steps, but with suggestions from a friend, I did some others too and they seem to have fixed my issue:
- Using DDU in safe mode and reinstalling my drivers after rebooting
- Took the gpu out
- Cleaned the contacts on the PCIe connector using isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swap
- Cleaned the PCIe slot on the motherboard using compressed air
- Getting the specific drivers for my monitor from AOC

Now I can get to selling my old GPU!

Edit: It's back, idk what to do now.

For now, try other port on the GPU and/or monitor, if any.

And try using other cable

Hopefully there'll be more knowledgeable people giving you some insight soon.

It seems this only happens when I have both monitors connected - when only one is connected this doesn't happen. Seems to be the same as what people with 4090s are complaining about. I'll just deal with this for a year or so and then I'll hopefully be able to buy myself a new, full PC around the end of the year to build myself.
