IPS vs TN

Go to solution Solved by Doobeedoo,

There is obviously still sifference between them as tech is different. So IPS became faster and TN became better looking. But both still carry their drawbacks on higher end. So depends what you care more or willing to sacrifice. Zowie models have very good strobing for example. Have to check some reviews to decide.

Im looking to buy a 360hz monitor and 2 monitors caught my eye the famous benq 360hz tn and the ASUS ROG Strix 380Hz 0.3ms IPS monitor, i know ips and tn are different like latency and color wise but i heard at this point ips has caught up to tn, in terms of latency, so does it still matter? and also the asus monitor says 380hz(OC) im guessing it stands for overclock, so what is the regular hertz without overclocking?

First, are you a paid esports professional? Assuming you're talking about the XL2566K and XG259QN those are $600 and $400 monitors respectively and for only 1080p. Unless your job is to play extremely competitive shooters these seem like silly purchases.  Its your money but I think that's insane unless someone is paying me to play video games at a very high level. The XL2566K looks pretty bad from an IQ perspective.

Displays that advertise this, its hardly an "overclock", more a setting you enable in the OSD. Looking at the manual its 360Hz and its confirmed you just click one setting enabling 380hz. (basically just a marketing stunt)
