So I have a strix 3070 and have had it about 2 years now never any issues, but when loading up valorant today I noticed a sound of whine, at first I thought maybe it was my aio pump then set my pump to quiet and the sound continued. Dig a bit of digging and realized it was coil whine. I have a EVGA 850w Supernova GA which shouldnt have any issue delivering enough power. Could my PSU be going bad? or is it just my GPU is aging?

But coil whine can just develop over time. It’s not really a sign of age or damage. Inductors have a small copper coil in them, and they’re usually potted in resin or something. That resin cast isn’t perfect and it can break loose if it wasn’t flawless from the factory. So what you hear is that coil vibrating stupidly fast and touching the harder housing of the inductor.

Thats just what inductors do.

So its not something I should be worried about then?
