disk checking was running overnight yet still not finished

so last night suddenly a message appeared that my hdd has problem and windows need to fix it so then i started error checking and ever since it's still running, for some reason it may seem stuck on the progress bar window but according to task manager it is indeed utilizing hdd resources

drive is unmounted due to this scan and if i cancel it now by ending process or unplugging from usb i think it might cause permanent damage like it happened with my desktop drive couple of months ago

Yes, unplugging it can corrupt MBR, or file system. 
It would be safer to power the PC down, but I would just leave it.

depending on the size of the partition, it can take like forever. Especially if there’s a problem on it.

it's still going on, im really confused. It's only 500gb so it shouldn't have taken this long considering previously it ran the process was finished overnight.

how is the HDD usage?

i shutdown the pc as you suggested and ran chkdsk in cmd and it was showing corrupted directories, 1 sector per sec that's why it was this slow now i am running a diskgenius scan, hopefully that can fix it, nothing bad so far (more than half done).

Looks good, strange it had read errors ( monitor it, if the raw value will raise), of course it could be because the BF ( do not move the HDD when it’s on )

yes, i should have already told that. It's an external hard drive and it's usb is also, slight movement sometimes reconnect and disconnect it. I asked my brother to get me a new cable but he refused and did cheeky stuff to fix the current one it got better but still not perfect.
