Best gpu for 80$?

Go to solution Solved by tkitch,

An RX 580 8GB or 1070 8GB are probably about the best cards you'll find at that pricepoint.

FWIW, I have an RX580 8GB in my HTPC and it's running fine still, and I upgraded off a 1080 a little under a year ago, and that 1080 is still more than fine

To piggy back this, my 1070 is still rocking as well.

im leaning to amd, since 1070 costs more. thanks for the comment man appreciate it

My friend JUST upgraded from a 580 8GB.  Her 580 8GB is still working and was actually keeping up quite well in the games we play together.

Its an impressive GPU that aged really well 🙂 Should be a very nice 1080p gaming GPU.

I hope your 550 watt PSU is a good one, while the performance is decent, the RX 580 (at least @ stock settings, or overclocked) uses a lot of power.

If you wanted a brand new card, the RX 6400 is available not much over $100 and while a sizeable chunk slower, it has minimal power consumption (~50 watts).

Undervolt to .86v and ~1100 core clock now it only draws ~100w atleast thats what ive observed with my 580 2048sp 8gb (basically a 570), havent seen much improvement from running higher core clock relative to the power it draws so prefer undervolt and oc the vram
