Thermaltake Toughpower GF2 650W Gold

you'll be fine, it's b tier on the psu tier list and the 4070 super only really draws 240w max

Current PC Specs: Intel Core i5 12400F -  Gigabyte 660M DS3 AX - 32GB Ram - Colorful RTX 2060 Super - 500GB + 1TB NVMe - 120GB HDD - Thermaltake Toughpower GF2 650W Gold - Deepcool AG400 cooler

I've been courting to upgrade my GPU. Been eyeing for vanilla 4070 since it requires minimum of 650W PSU. But decided to wait since 4070 Super is already on the horizon

After looking at the specification, I find some inconsistency between all the AIBs. Because some of them asks for different minimum PSU specification that exceed 650W

Here are the roundups (only for AIBs that sold on my country)

Minimum 750W: Zotac, Palit, Asus

Minimum 700W: Gigabyte

Minimum 650W: Founder edition, MSI, Colorful

Do you think I should only buy the AIBs that list 650W as minimum specs? Or in case Gigabyte, Zotac, Palit and Asus got better deal, I don't have to worry about the power comsumption, despite the specs? Because I don't think I'll upgrade my PSU because it is already gold-rated and has 10-years warranty, nor I want to get monster GPU like xx90 series anytime soon.

You might wanna go for 30 series then, because Nvidia cards have a name for themselves for going WAY past their ratted wattage. If amazon has return policy in your area, try it and if your pc poops itself, just replace it with a 3070 or something.

that's a bad idea, because 40 series is way more power efficient than 30, 4070S seems fine with the psu

Ignore the PSU requirements. The 4070 Super has a 220W TDP, so a even a decent 450W PSU should be fine, especially with a fairly low power CPU like the 12400F. The 4000 series also have less harsh transients than the 3000 series, making them even easier to run on lower wattage PSUs compared to them.

That's an OK then even if the AIB suggests for 750W PSU? That's good to hear

What about 4070 Super Ti? Do you think my PSU can handle it?

Your PSU is good enough for basically any GPU that says "recommended PSU 650W"

it should but it'll be bottlenecked by the 12400f even at 1440p. At 4k with the 4070 ti super you should be fine but at 1440p with the 4070 super it'll be great

yes, if you find the FE version as the cheapest then I'd get that one

30 Series are less power efficient and have more transient spikes. Honestly, people will say anything in ignorance.
