Upgrade or new build? - Gaming PC

Budget (including currency): 2000-2500€

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly gaming and work (VMs)

Other details

Hi guys, I currently have this build for gaming:

- MB B450 Gaming Plus Max

- Ryzen 3600

- SSD NVMe Crucial P1

- Nvidia 2070 Super

- 16Go RAM 3600Mhz

- Case Fractal Design Meshify C

- Corsair rm650x

- Dual screen 32’ (1x4K @144hz + 1x1440p @165hz)

I am currently looking to update my build mostly used for gaming. I’d like to enjoy recent games at 1440p (ideally 4K) with fps. Nothing competitive, I just enjoy games with high frame rates (mostly rpg, adventure, some FPS, etc).

I struggle to find the best solution:

1) Change my cpu 3600 for a 5700 (or something better from that gen) + new case for a new GPU like a 4070 Ti Super

2) Go for a brand new build based on a 7800x3d + 32Go RAM DDR5 + GPU tbd

My questions are as follows: I am a bit lost with the new 40xx Super series, I am not sure what to choose. 4070 Ti Super or 4080 Super?

What would you recommend between the 2 options? I guess the first one is cheaper so it would be easier to go for a better GPU.

Thank you very much for your help!

If you're going that route, get the 5800X3D. Since you have fairly modest sounding requirements, I'd probably do that, alongside a 4070 Ti Super or 4080 Super (depending on reviews and prices).

HUB included the 7800X3D and 5800X3D in this video:

Wow guys thanks a lot your answers!!
I’ll definitely go for a new build with 7800x3d + 4080 Super based on your propositions.

In term of case, I really love the Fractal Design North but it is not suitable for a 360mm AIO mounted on top. Is 240mm a good alternative?

Or even an air cooler should be more than enough right?

Hi guys!

Thanks again for your help. After further investigation, I am wondering if investing in a X670 or b650E mobo would be a good idea? Especially that I'd like to keep that built for a long time (as long as possible)

If yes, would you recommand the Gigabyte X670 Gaming X AX V2? Or even the ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F Gaming WiFi?
