Gaming 1080P/1440P up to 1500$

Hi, i will give my old pc to my kid and therefore i would appreciate if you guys can assist me by providing a partpicker for a new gaming PC without storage.

Budget (including currency): 1400€ (~1500$)

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

  • Gaming 1080P but also future-proof for 1440P since i will upgrade my monitor someday
  • Simple AI projects, with CUDA support

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

  • I do have storage
    • 500GB M2 NVME
    • 14TB external HDD
  • I do some AI stuff and since CUDA is mostly NVIDIA exclusive (and newly "super" GPU coming out) I appreciate if you can up with an NVIDIA setup and also an AMD setup IF AMD is more cost-effective gaming vise
  • Preferably a simple, functional case without fancy RGB
  • I value energy efficiency since electricity is expensive in germany but thats just a bonus
  • No need of a wifi or blootooth adapter

Any help is highly appreciated 🙂

if the projects are simple, do you really need Nvidia if AMD was faster? or would the complexity increase overtime perhaps?

Pretty sure that argument is invalid as they specifically stated:

yes but "support" doesn't mean "requirement", unless it does?

Basically yes, either it increases over time for more complex projects, or it adds up for simple projects if you need more results.
For example for image generation at some point it makes a difference if lets say the generation of a single image takes 15 seconds GPU vs 40 seconds CPU but mostly you generate alot images until you are satisfied with the result. And alot seconds is alot of time waiting.

I know i can use cloud GPU but i kinda need an idea how big the difference is so i can take that also in consideration.

yeah CUDA is pretty much NVIDIA exclusive, so it is indeed a requirement. Basically if an AI project uses CUDA and you have AMD you cannot use your GPU for this project.

There's 2 ways to go about it:

First, 7800x3D CPU + RTX 4060ti:

  • 1. Is way faster CPU mainly for gaming but also has 2 more cores, it also basically ensures "theoretically" never needing to upgrade CPU for 5+ ish years
  • 2. Is faster on GPU side, which is severely beneficial for maintaining high fps and details in games when going from 1080p to 1440p, also probably will crunch AI stuff faster (note: currently "slowest" AM5 CPU is still very very fast for gaming)

Quoting @Hinjima simply because I want to say "hi, how are you?", but if he wants to he can have input on my build recommendations.

Builds don't include storage, different case can be used, ensure GPU fits length-wise and CPU cooler fits height-wise.

Case seems to be not available in PC part picker but is about 50-60 €

And in Germany its always worth checking out the Mindstar deals on mindfactory.de, often the deals are just mediocre but some are really good.

Hi again and thanks to all!

You all consent on taking the NVIDIA route. If my question wasnt considering the AI part, would you still build it with NVIDIA?

Based on your builds I did one myself. As you can see i shot a little over my limit but is it worth it? Maybe I could save some money if I take the Ryzen 7 7700? (or find some coupons ^^)

What you guys think of it?
