I would like some last minute advice.

I'm looking at used TV's to upgrade my older TV. I sometimes see OLED tv's that used to be expensive back in the day, but those are early generation OLED models. I even saw a Full HD OLED tv.

Right now I am eyeing a LG OLED from 2016 that's local for $250. It only has a small burn in square in the bottom left.

Is it a good deal? Is it possible to get rid of the OLED retention? I have read a bit about it, but not too much in depth.

Or am I better off buying a new tv or something like a QLED? I don't have the budget right now for a brand new OLED.

I do prefer a tv with HDMI 2.1, but for this price it will also cut it for a while. This model supposedly has 100hz.

250$ for a 8 year old OLED tv? Absolutely not a good deal o.o Does depend on the size but that is not something id suggest buying.

just seconding it's possibly the worst deal ive seen on these forums.

also QLED is just marketing, it has nothing to do with oled, they are just regular VA panels.

Haha okay. Never mind then.
Goes to say I know nothing about OLED and types of TV's. Monitors is more my thing, but even then I got all I need with a Samsung G9.

I might be better off researching more first then just browing around for an older TV. I was hoping for a good deal.

u can probably get basic qled panels for 200-220usd, the ones with QD mini-led (more colors) are around 400usd,

a new A2 OLED (lower brightness 2022 model) is actually on sale at bestbuy for 600usd

Terrible terrible deal

250 for a burnt out and in washed up early oled is waaaay too much. These are basically landfill due to how oled works and if they saw even half of normal tv use these are literal ewaste and only acceptable as free giveaways.

Also hdmi 2.1 is only needed if something is used from the spec.

Also keep in mind hdmi 2.1 ONLY needs to meet hdmi 2.0 specs to be called 2.1

2.1 is a bullshit standard as there is NOTHING set in stone about it and all its new features are optional

That's a great deal actually! I didn't mention, but I'm from Europe. That model costs $800 here at the moment

Gotcha. Old OLED is a no go then.
I need HDMI 2.1 only because I want to get a PS5 (I have a Xbox Series right now).

It's annoying, because I need to spend more to get HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120 and VRR.

In my used TV search I often only see HDMI 2.0, 2.0a and 2.0b TV's. Basically it must be 2019 or newer, which are not often sold used yet for cheap. Considering buying new after all.

I’d need to see extensive pictures taken by someone who knows what they’re doing, the full model number and a report of the usage hours from the OSD.

If it’s a higher end LG I’m sure it still looks great if it wasn’t abused.

Without that people are just guessing.
