Hello everyone,

I am planning on building my first gaming pc, as my laptop isn't performing sufficiently anymore apart from being really noisy to a point where it's disturbing. I looked into parts as far as I understood and created this list on Pc PartPicker and was hoping for some feedback:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LN8HJy

I used @Windspeed36 's build thread template below.

If the above list doesn't work here's a short summary of components:

-CPU

Intel Core i7-14700KF 3.4 GHz 20 Core

-CPU Cooler

be quiet! Pure Rock 2 Black CPU Cooler

-Motherboard

Asus Prime B600M-K D4 Micro ATX LGA 1700 Motherboard

-RAM

Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600 CL18 Memory

-MEMORY

Crucial P3 1 TB M. 2 2280 PCIe  3.0 X4 NVME ssd

-GPU

Gigabyte EAGLE GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB Video Card

-CASE

Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case

-POWERSUPPLY

be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

1. Budget & Location

Budget: ~1400usd /~1250€

willing to increase 10% for more performance

Location: Austria, Europe

2. Aim

Gaming

-Ready or not

-Subnautica

-Sons of the forest

-Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga

3D-Modeling

General usage (Web Brosing, Text formating etc.)

3. Monitors

current: 1x 4k 50'' Monitor

in the future: thinking about adding a small (HD 18-22'') secondary screen

4. Peripherals

peripherals: no peripherals needed

os: windows 10

5. Why are you upgrading?

The reason for upgrading is as mentioned above the dropping performance on my current gaming laptop, the noi se and the want for more performance and quality.

Thank you for any feedback and please excuse poor formating as I am currently on mobile.

🙂

Hello... I was looking over your list and I found a few things that really needed to be changed.

1. If you are just going to be mainly Gaming then you don't need a Core i7 or a 14th Gen either. Also you don't want to pair it with a B660 Motherboard because you would need to update the BIOS on the Motherboard and there is no BIOS Flashback on it so the CPU would not work. So I switched it to a Core i5 12400. It is more than enough to play Games and do everything else you need. If you ever wanted to upgrade the CPU you can put in a 13th or 14th Gen.

2. A Be Quiet! Pure Rock 2 would not be enough to Cool a i7 14700, it would overheat and either refuse to boot or fry the CPU and or Motherboard. I got you a Thermalright Phantom Spirit Air Cooler. It is almost silent and is more than enough to cool even a Core i9.

3. With Gen4 M.2 Drives so cheap these days why would you want to limit your PC and not unlock it's potential? I switched it to a Gen4 Drive.

4. I was able to upgrade the GPU you had to a model with 16GB of VRAM. Trust me, you will need the extra Video Memory.

5. Lots of people still pick the Corsair 4000D Airflow Case. It is not bad but it only give you 2 Fans and you will need more so why not get a Case that already has enough Fans, there are so many other good options. I went with the MSI MAG Forge 112R, it has 4 ARGB Fans already installed.

6. A 650w PSU will not be enough so I added a 850w from MSI and it is A-Tier Rated. If you ever upgrade the GPU you will need a the extra Wattage so I already did that for you.

I went with a MSI Themed Build. I hope you like it. Let me know what you think. Also I added a second list, a AMD PC.

I have been building PCs for over 30 years so if you have any questions please ask. For future communication I use Discord for much faster response times as I have it open 24/7. Here is my Discord: Wizardsnapper#2772 I am also available if you need help before, during, or after the Build process on Discord through Voice or Video Chat. I can be with you while you build your new PC if you need me to be.

My only suggestion would be to get a beefier PSU. Yes, a 650W will work for this current build. But what happens when you want to upgrade your graphics card? You might have to buy a new PSU too. I'm not sure how much this costs in Austria but this PSU is actually cheaper than the Be Quiet one on your list and gives 750W.
