Subwoofer connection to PC/TV combo

leclod

I currently use my subwoofer directly on the TV headphone Out via a crossover frequency. It works alright enough.

But can you confirm there's no better way via the Center/Subwoofer out on the motherboard ? (I use an HDMI cable and the TV stereo speakers which are ok on my TV)

Can HDMI audio signal and that Center/Subwoofer Out work in parallel ?

Does that Center/Subwoofer Out only work with a dedicated subwoofer track ? meaning 2.1 audio source...

I'm willing to swim against the current.

Centre/subwoofer plug on motherboard is intended for 5.1 PC speakers or legacy connection to older amps which almost no one use nowadays. I don't think that plug will work as there's no 2.1 option + bass direction on Windows. You could plug your subwoofer into stereo plug instead and then use Voicemeeter to dual output HDMI and Realtek audio, but ehh... I don't know if that's better at all.

At that point if your current setup works for you then there's no need to worry further. What would be better is ditching TV speakers and getting stereo amp or active stereo speaker then combine with your sub. It will open up several more ways to connect depending on what connections your speaker, amp and sub have.

Thank you. I'll give Voicemeeter a go.

One of my issues is latency. If dual output works it might help synchronise TV speakers and Sub by eliminating one intermediary on one side (if this ever was an issue in the first place)

The speakers on my LG 65E7 are above average.

Edit : I installed Voicemeter, it did mess with my GPU (Afterburner is orphaned), with Fan Control, with the display style (windows edgy now instead of round corners) 😬

Strange. I only used voicemeeter as an experiment but haven't used it since. It didn't mess up what you listed at that time.

Also I'm guessing there is no latency difference with your current setup (but never tried). I would be worried with higher end DAC products which may introduce more latency as more features are shoved in.
