Budget (including currency): ~$5000.00 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  CP2077 & other similar games, Fusion 360, Solidworks, Adobe PS, Adobe IS

Aim:

My aim here is to kill 2 birds with one stone. I have a professional workload of a CNC machinist/Metal Fabricator. I run the aforementioned programs frequently although I don't typically see real complex 3d model assemblies but its not unheard of. I also enjoy gaming and although I don't particularly need every frame per second I can squeeze out of any game atm I would like to do my best to future proof my build for a minimum of 5 years.  In essence, I am lookin to build a single rig to handle both of these applications ( work & play / production & gaming ).

Monitors

I plan on gaming in 1440p one monitor for now.

Peripherals

I have a suitable mouse, I will need a keyboard, and a windows OS

Why are you upgrading?

I am upgrading from a Acer Predator helios ph317-51 from 2017. This laptop never really did anything I wanted it to do aside from generic gaming with low settings and surfing the web. At this point anything may be a viable upgrade.

Here's what I have began mocking up.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/sej7685/saved/DFRGjX

I plan on going with a ROG hyperion gr701 case which pcpartpicker doesn't have for whatever reason.

Open and willing to hear any and all suggestions!

If you're going to blow FY money on a computer, why stop at a Founder's Edition 4090? Get one of those liquid cooled ones like the SUPRIM Liquid X for like $200 more.

Also don't get an ASUS board - tons of bad juju in this community right now with how bad ASUS is for customer support. You could get like a Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Master or ASRock Z790 Taichi R for about $50-$100 cheaper and still get the fancy bells and whistles without paying the ASUS name brand tax.

Also, you don't need 1600W. That's for dual-GPU configurations at a minimum. You can get a Silverstone HELA 1200R that's A-tier on the PSU tier list for $220, which saves you a decent chunk of change.

Hello... I was looking over your list and unless you are running a Server or some other type of Hardcore Business Software/Hardware then you don't need a Core i9. A Core i9 has been proven to be not the best thing for Gaming. The Core i5 is much more suited to Games but if you need the balance of Work/Play then the Core i7 is the perfect thing for you. So I gave your list a major Overhaul. I was able to get you the most Performance Per Dollar or Bang for your Buck.

For this type of budget we call this a "GODZILLA" PC. I went with a Gigabyte Theme. I think it looks totally Awesome and it will Destroy any Game you throw at it with ease. Almost every part is from Gigabyte. I also added a Monitor too. A Gigabyte M32Q 31.5" 2560 x 1440 170 Hz IPS Panel. And it has Speakers.

If you have any questions please let me know and what you think...

Ah, Well I was hoping for optimal workload performance seeing as that is how I make my money, and My gaming preferences lean towards single player games where a couple % slower wouldn't hurt much. Watching the LTT video about the 7800X3d shows (13th gen yes) i9,i7and i5 chips performing in games about the same, with each of the 3 variants winding up on top ( between intel chips ) for different games. Meanwhile for productive tasks the i9 chip consistently lead the chart.

I like the gigabyte board, I don't like not having thunderbolt ports, and no HDMI port could hurt as well. Right now my GPU in my laptop is dead and if it weren't for the on-board graphics in the i7 chip I would be dead in the water, also would there he any real benefit of getting a "K" variant chipset if my MOBO didn't have any display ports to run the integrated graphics through? Wouldn't a "KF" variant chipset serve the same purpose for cheaper at that point? It seems I may be missing loads of specifics here, but the reality is I most likely just need to be more educated as to what I'm lookin at. If ASUS really is something I need to steer clear of then the ASRock Taichi board seems like a good option.

Originally I went with Intel because you did. I have switched it back to the Core i9 14900K and paired it with the Asus ROG MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO . It has Duel Thunderbolt 4 Ports on the back I/O and an HDMI Port. There is nothing wrong with ASUS as far as the parts go, I have been using them for years and have not had a problem yet. Last year alone I used about 50 ASUS Motherboards from both AMD and Intel. The problem is with the Customer Service which has been fixed as of 6 months ago. I had a really hard time finding a Motherboard with Thunderbolt and HDMI unless I added a separate PCIe Card. I also added 2 different CPU Pressure Blocks to help lower the Temps of the CPU as it can and will get really hot. I also threw in a GPU Support Bar and a Website to get a Windows 11 Key.

If you need anymore help please let me know.
