Unstable curve optimizer

Hello, I got a 7800x3d and ran a core cycler for 7 hours with the ycruncher selected without issues, then crashed in games after some days. Is there a way to tell what specific core crashed? If not, what should I do?

there can be many reasons it crashed. Not just the cpu. Could be the ram, psu, gpu, cooling temps, motherboard or even storage. Use furmark (FurMark Homepage (geeks3d.com)) for the gpu or 3DMark (TimeSpy if possible) if you have it, for the psu just tell us the rest of your specs, for cooling temps it should be obvious (if it's quite close to or at 100 degrees Celsius then it's probably thermal throttling and could be a reason for it to crash), for ram use memtest64 MemTest64 - Memory Stability Tester (techpowerup.com) and for storage you can use CrystalDiskMark or verify the game files

 

you can disable your cpu overclock to try if you want tho

you could use hwinfo64 to check specific core usage, specific core temp and specific core voltage and then if you want to check it in game use msi afterburner and the osd config

Are you sure its due to your CPU overclock? I found corecycler pretty damn good for testing CO. I would be more suspect of RAM.

It definitely can especially when you have voltage undershoot due to bad LLC setting

You can look at Event viewer the failing thread will be indicated

Usually it's one of the best cores that get out of juice while wanting to clock higher due to undervolt, what's your CO settings ?

Hello, sorry for the late reply. I have run memtest86, windows memory diagnostic, occt memtest, and memtest5. I recently rma my ram as one stick died and I got new ones 2 weeks ago, so I dont think its the ram. My temps while doing Cinebench R23 are 78 °C max. I did a corecycler with 1 core at a time with the Prime95 selected at 2 hours per core and no crashes. So far, I'm doing a corecycler with a ycruncher selected right now. I will also do a psu test with occt and run the timespy test as recommended above.

I have a B650 Tomahawk llc that is set to auto.

I did check the event viewer, but I saw no errors. Maybe I was doing something wrong in there. Could you tell me how to do it correctly?

If your PC fully crashed there should be some "red flag" event, search for "WHEA"

If only the game was crashing you won'thave anything here, and those kind of issues are harder to solve because they're game-dependent

Maybe play the game at stock settings

Or it could be GPU related

BTW which games crashed ?

Rust only so far, my computer restarts without bsod, the same as when I try to find a stable curve optimizer. Im going to finish this ycruncher test then move onto ram then the gpu then the psu

Can't you let Ryzen Master do the CO?  It can do a per core set and test if I remember right.

 

Now you have me wondering if my -30 all core is legit, as I just set it and forget it in the BIOS.   My 7700X ran with it and the 7800X3D runs with it.

They dont have that on the x3d only on non x3d

Ahh, okay.  I saw it previously, when I had the 7700X in.  Didn't do it, cuz the -30 all core worked.

 

What settings did you achieve in CO in your original test?

Can you try using the igpu? It might be the gpu. Or try a furmark
