[SOLVED] Plugging the power into a GPU
4 minutes ago, TuCBe said:Hi guys,
I need some enlightment regarding the power connection between my PSU and GPU.
So the GPU is a MSI 3080 ti suprim with the 3x 8pins as illustrated below.
With my new PSU (Corsair RM 850X), i have received 2x PCI cables as follow.
And with the GPU I have received this cable (which looks useless for this card if I'm not mistaken).
My main question is can I use the 2x PCI cables to plug the card (so one 8 pins and one with 2x 8pins "daisy chained").
If not, It looks like my PSU can plug more than 2 PCI cables, should I buy a 3rd one then ?
Or
My old PSU (Corsair CS 650M) has a PCI cable I could use, I guess i shouldn't thrust it but anyone knows if it will be compatible ?
And last question, what does the "Nvidia" power cable is used for ?
Thank you for all your answers and have a nice day !
The RM850x is a quality PSU and daisychaining is completely fine to do with this PSU.
Daisychaining got a bad rap but this is mainly from people doing it with crap tier PSU's from 2004.
Do it like in this picture and then ziptie the left over connection down the main cable.
