Do I have to get a new card or will it eventually fix itself?

I'm not sure. I think it's an AMD software problem. But it's very hard to tell from this thread.

Try this:

  1. Download latest AMD Drivers (offline installer)
  2. Run it. This will extract the AMD files into a folder...By default in C:\AMD
  3. Once opened Cancel the installation (don't continue) just leave it open...
  4. Go to C:\AMD\YourDriverVersion\Bin64
(Folder may vary depending on extraction location and AMD drivers version. you'll need to accept permissions to access the folder )
  5. Run AMDCleanupUtility.exe
  6. Reboot
  7. If C:\AMD\YourDriverVersion\ is empty non-existentant, open the AMD Driver setup program again (and just leave it open)
  8. Run Device Manager as Administrator
  9. Click the Add Driver icon button (it has a tiny green arrow pointing up)
  10. Pick the location to find the drivers that were extracted previously C:\AMD\YourDriverVersion (include subfolders checkbox should be checked)
  11. Once it installs the graphics driver successfully, Restart the computer
  12. Now run AMD Setup installation: C:\AMD\YourDriverVersion\Setup.exe
  13. Once installation completed, Reboot.

See if it's sorted this time.

Been a few hours, do you want the results now or let it run a little longer?

Sure, you can just attach the log to a post. It's located in the logs folder inside of the CoreCycler folder

No issues there. While it's not guaranteed based of this test, it sure looks like your CPU is stable given how quickly the issues you've been having seem to have appeared.

  1. Disable XMP/DOCP in the UEFI & see if it crashes
  2. You could try MemTest86, but that will take probably a day or more to really test the RAM effectively
  3. I'd test the computer with only one DIMM of RAM in it and seeing if it crashes, if it doesn't, it's probably RAM-related. If it does, try the other DIMM only. IIRC, the RAM should be in DIMM A2.
  4. Otherwise, it should looks like the GPU might have a hardware issue, might want to reach out to AMD

Wait... that game supports Nvidia ray tracing which the AMD card doesn't support. Have you reset your game settings (delete the q2config.cfg file in the "baseq2" folder)? Or are you trying to run the games with settings that aren't compatible?

I installed the game just to test the one stick of ram, I'll delete the file and test it again. I saw videos of other AMD users playing it so I thought I'd try it. It gives the same error with 2 sticks as well.

That's not a RAM issue though. That's a game setting issue. You may need to make a file called "q2config.cfg"  (make sure viewing file extensions is turned on in File Explorer)  in the baseq2 folder and add seta vid_rtx "0" to it

Reinstalled the game and it launches now. I'll try it with 1 stick

Did you disable XMP/DOCP first instead? I see you have it enabled, as the RAM is running at 3600MHz (Overclocked)

Forgot to disable it with 2 sticks. With 1 stick running without XMP I got a new error.

Can you please test with the original games you mentioned? (Can't test The Finals with one stick of RAM because it requires 12 GB of RAM) There's too many known issues with Quake II RTX and AMD cards and I'm not confident the game is even configured correctly for your system.

Does your PC crash if you run SuperPosition maxed out?

Sorry, I'll run the original games as well as SuperPosition.

Wasnt able to screenshot it but Team Fortress 2 crashed as soon as I hit play. The error said something about D3D and not finding a technique. Something along the lines of that.

Even Roblox crashes with this error:

With XMP/DOCP off if you're getting those messages, then time to try one RAM stick as a time and see if you get the same errors.

One would think that since it worked fine with an Nvidia RTX 3060 that it's your GPU though.

That was with XMP off and one stick of ram. I'll try the other stick

Games still crashing with either stick with XMP off.

Sounds like a bad GPU to me

Dang. Thanks for at least getting my GPU on life support these last few days. I'll reach out to XFX and AMD to see if I can get a new card.

Sorry, hopefully I'm wrong!

I would contact XFX first: Contact Us (xfxforce.com)

You can check one thing to see if your computer is set to make memory dumps when it crashes. (might be useful in showing what the underlying issues is).

Check %SYSTEMROOT% to see if you have any .dmp files there.

  1. Windows key + R
  2. Type sysdm.cpl and press Enter
  3. Go to the Advanced Tab
  4. Under Startup and Recovery click Settings...
  5. Make sure that it looks something like this:
