Do I have to get a new card or will it eventually fix itself?

I'm not sure. I think it's an AMD software problem. But it's very hard to tell from this thread.

Try this:

  1. Download latest AMD Drivers (offline installer)
  2. Run it. This will extract the AMD files into a folder...By default in C:\AMD
  3. Once opened Cancel the installation (don't continue) just leave it open...
  4. Go to C:\AMD\YourDriverVersion\Bin64
(Folder may vary depending on extraction location and AMD drivers version. you'll need to accept permissions to access the folder )
  5. Run AMDCleanupUtility.exe
  6. Reboot
  7. If C:\AMD\YourDriverVersion\ is empty non-existentant, open the AMD Driver setup program again (and just leave it open)
  8. Run Device Manager as Administrator
  9. Click the Add Driver icon button (it has a tiny green arrow pointing up)
  10. Pick the location to find the drivers that were extracted previously C:\AMD\YourDriverVersion (include subfolders checkbox should be checked)
  11. Once it installs the graphics driver successfully, Restart the computer
  12. Now run AMD Setup installation: C:\AMD\YourDriverVersion\Setup.exe
  13. Once installation completed, Reboot.

See if it's sorted this time.

I constantly get some variation of the pictured error when trying to play a game. Sometimes I will get past the menu and the game crashes, or the game starts and immediately crashes. Ive tried updating drivers and windows memory diagnostic but nothing works. Ive got a Ryzen 7 5800x and RX 6700xt.

Games like The Finals, Rocket League, TF2, and even Roblox crash in minutes or second sometimes.

Welp, how about try the AMD Cleanup Utiliy and see if that works. (It's an automated process that's simliar to DDU.)

Still getting the same issues, do you think it has anything to do with ram?

Not from what I've seen from others who have similar issues.

  • You may (while in Safe Mode) need to go into Device Manager and uninstall the Display Adapter if it still says AMD after running AMD Cleanup Utility
  • You may also need to delete some folders as outlined here. The post if from 2019, so I'm not sure it will fix it, but it's worth a try. The post at the very bottom is quite detailed, but you could try the marked solution first

The drop is when it crashed, and no error message this time.

Try OCCT and run the VRAM test... see what comes back.

Looks like it's probably not your GPU; hopefully just some software issue. Update your chipset drivers from AMD's website & make sure Windows is up-to-date. Might take a while to figure out what exactly is the issue, but we can probably get it figured out.

Was this a fresh Windows install? Or did you move Windows from one computer to this one?

Same Windows 11 install from a few months ago, updating it every so often. I also ran PSU and CPU stress test like someone from AMD's support forum suggested and those had no errors.

Awesome!

  1. Can you install MSI Center and make sure there's no updates?
  2. If there are UEFI/BIOS updates, please do those. I'm having a hard time determining what UEFi version your motherboard has as the way it reported in Windows is a little funky.
  3. Do ALL games crash eventually, or do only some games crash?
  4. Do you have a %SystemRoot%\Minidump\ folder with files in it?
If so, follow the instructions in Method B listed here.
  5. If none of the updates help, turn off XMP OC Mode for the RAM, and see if that stops the crashing. If it does, we may have found where the issue is.

If so, follow the instructions in Method B listed here.
  5. If none of the updates help, turn off XMP OC Mode for the RAM, and see if that stops the crashing. If it does, we may have found where the issue is.

1. It doesnt tell me to update anything when I launch it
2. BIOS Version 1.E0
3. Only some
4. I dont have a Minidump folder
5. I turned XMP off last night and it didnt fix

I'll update the bios real quick.

Just tried with a 3060, every game runs fine with it. No crashes or errors.

Well, that does rule out the motherboard PCIE slot.

You need to check for updates in MSI Center here:

You'll need to click Advanced for the UEFI/BIOS updates

This whole thing is very strange. I think it's lying... because a UEFI update came out in October... did you happen to update the UEFI after October?

Yes, confirmed, can't trust MSI Center apparently. Latest UEFI is 7C56v1F and I'm guessing 1E0 is a beta UEFI. Regardless, no reason to update from 1E0 to 1F except for security stuff. Won't fix your issue.
