Hi,

I recently bought a can of what i thought was compressed air. But when I got it, it turned out to be this liquid thing that was sprayed as if it was compressed air.

My PC is very dirty, and this is the only thing ive found that was available to buy. Should I use it? and is it safe?

That's tape head cleaner, not "canned air".

If you need to blow dust out, there are other options besides those "canned air" refrigerant things. If you can get hold of a vacuum that lets you put the hose on the output (blow) side, an air compressor, or a leaf blower, they'll all dust your PC out.

It appears that canned air might not be available where you live for environmental or import reasons. Canned air contains chemicals that can damage the ozone layer and cause injury in children who don't know what it is and inhale it. It's not actually air, it's very similar to a refrigerant, liquid when held under pressure, but instantly turning to a gas when released.

If you have a vacuum cleaner that you can switch to get a stream of air out (like a shopvac or a blower), use that. Don't use the vacuum part of a vacuum cleaner, since it can cause static electricity buildup that can damage some components. This LTT video from 10 years ago may be able to help.

Stuff like this will do the job to dust

Or a compressor or can of air or ... anything that blows hard

That is NOT a can of air that is liquid tape cleaner. Spray that on dust and it's gonna turn into goop that is super nasty.

You can use it to clean your pc but it’s basically just gonna be like spraying it with alcohol. Make sure it’s off, and follow up the spraying with a dry paper towel or something.

If you’re just trying to dust the pc, and don’t have compressed air of any variety, use a vacuum on blow, or just go outside with some makeup brushes and brush the dust out.

I would not use this to clean your PC, namely because of what you just mentioned - the required drying. If the computer is not dried properly, it could cause a short somewhere. I don't have experience with this particular cleaner - this one specifically - but if it dries like "canned air", it should be okay. But I doubt it. Any pockets where it just sits could spell doom, and especially if you're relying on a paper towel at all to clean up anything left behind. You won't be able to get to it.

Besides that, getting dust wet only makes it stick worse.

Using a regular vacuum is not a good idea. Only an ESD vacuum should be used. If you cannot find regular canned air maybe look for alcohol free canned air. If you cannot find that then maybe look around for a ESD electric powered blower/duster.
