CPU - 2 Memory channels help

Go to solution Solved by Middcore,

Memory channels are not the same thing as memory slots or the modules that go in them.

Most ATX and mATX boards have four memory slots and two channels. Two slots are channel A and two are channel B.

I was looking into my processor and seeing what was supported (speed, ddr5, pcie etc.). And noticed it said it supported 2 memory channels only.  Does that mean I can only run 2 sticks of ram, or is it referring to the A and B on the motherboard?  In other words, would 4 ram slots work on this CPU?  I’m looking at the 7600 for reference.

Budget (including currency): $1500

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Elden Ring, CyberPunk

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
