I was going to buy the MSI Z97M Gaming, but is it a bad idea to pre order it before it has come out? Is there a better mATX Z97 chipset motherboard I could buy?

I was just giving you options since you were thinking it was bad to preorder it, there are ones already out, I never said there were ones that were better, some might idk.

Motherboards don't impact performance.  The term "better motherboard" is kind of relative to the features that you need.  If you need a specific feature, find a motherboard with that specific feature, otherwise any motherboard will perform the same.  I am partial to Asus because of their AI Suite III, which includes Fan Xpert and Automatic Overclocking.
