Installing an HDD into NZXT H5 Flow. This can’t be right can it?

Go to solution Solved by GuiltySpark_,

That looks completely normal to me.

According to my interpretation of the manual, this is how a hard drive is supposed to be installed into this case. But it just seems incorrect to me? It’s a single screw and a few metal clips holding it into place, and I can’t imagine it’s good for the hard drive to run upside down and vertically. Or am I overthinking this and it’s perfectly normal?Hard drive possibly installed incorrectly in computer case

Alright, good to know, thank you! I don’t think I’ve seen an HDD installed this way before, so it looked strange.

Hard drives don't really care how they're oriented when they're running as far as that orientation doesn't change while they're running.

As stated above, hard drives don't care about orientation. They can run in all sorts of orientations, including upside down. The holding mechanism there should be enough to hold the hard drive into place - if you are really concerned about it, you can periodically check on it to ensure the tabs aren't breaking/bending.

Reminds me of the Xbox360. Really any game console with a disk drive, but the 360 was the one that I first and last messed up a disk on. Child me decided while playing a game I wanted the xbox to stand up, since that was the new gimmick. I lost my game 😞

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Even that is not necessarily true - if the change is slow enough, the hard drive will likely be fine. That is...if I have to tilt my chassis a bit while my computer is running to fix something real quick, any hard drives are likely to be fine as long as it's not a jerky motion.
